Worked out from The Universal Credit Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/376), regulation 22 - deduction of income and work allowance: 55% of earned income above the work allowance, and all unearned income and 3 other sources.
The rates used are the ones entered above. Published maximum awards, allowances and limits change at least yearly, so check them against the current tables for your assessment period.
An arithmetic estimate of a taper, not a benefit decision. It does not test eligibility, household composition, immigration status, capital disregards or transitional protection, and it uses only the rates you enter. Check any figure with the paying authority or an accredited adviser before relying on it.

How this is worked out

4 steps
  1. Universal Credit Regulations 2013 regs 18, 22 and 72: 55% taper above the work allowance, tariff income of 4.35 a month per 250 (or part) of capital over 6,000, and no entitlement above 16,000 of capital.
  2. Earnings above the disregard = max(0, 0 - 0) = 0.
  3. Taper = 55% x 0 = 0.
  4. Award = max(0, 1000 - 0 of income deducted in full - 0 of taper) = 1000.
