How this is worked out

4 steps
  1. Universal Credit Regulations 2013 regs 18, 22 and 72: 55% taper above the work allowance, tariff income of 4.35 a month per 250 (or part) of capital over 6,000, and no entitlement above 16,000 of capital.
  2. Earnings above the disregard = max(0, 0 - 0) = 0.
  3. Taper = 55% x 0 = 0.
  4. Award = max(0, 1000 - 0 of income deducted in full - 0 of taper) = 1000.
