How this is worked out

7 steps
  1. 2026 pay tables (Executive Order 14368 of December 18, 2025, Schedule 8).
  2. Army pay comes from the same Schedule 8 table as every other service; the branch changes no amount here.
  3. E-5 at 6 years falls in the "over 4 years" column: $3946.80 a month.
  4. Annual basic pay = 12 x 3946.80 = $47361.60.
  5. BAH entered for your Military Housing Area = $2100.00 a month.
  6. Taxable $3946.80 + non-taxable $2100.00 = $6046.80 a month.
  7. Tax advantage = $25200.00 of untaxed allowances x 12.0% marginal rate = $3024.00; RMC = basic pay + BAH + BAS + tax advantage.
