Pay frequency is set by state law and employer policy; the four frequencies offered here are the ones the states recognise.
US Department of Labor, Fact Sheet #16 and 29 CFR 778.106 (time of payment)
Wages are due on the regular payday for the pay period; employers therefore pay early rather than late when a payday falls on a non-banking day. The direction of the shift remains employer policy, so it is an input here.
5 U.S.C. 6103 - Federal legal public holidays
The holiday list and the Saturday-to-Friday / Sunday-to-Monday observance shift used when deciding whether a payday is a banking day.

What the Payday Calculator calculates

Lists the coming paydays for a weekly, biweekly, semimonthly or monthly pay schedule, with the next payday and the days until it. Weekly and biweekly schedules run on a fixed 7- or 14-day cycle from a known payday (26 biweekly pay dates a year, not 24); semimonthly and monthly schedules use fixed days of the month, clamped to the month end when the month is short. A payday landing on a weekend or federal holiday is moved to the preceding business day by default, which is the common US employer practice.
