How many finished items per minute the line should produce.
From the in-game recipe: how many items one craft cycle yields.
From the in-game recipe: how long one craft cycle takes at 100% machine speed.
Overclocking, modules or speed beacons. 100% is the base rate.
From the in-game recipe, as "name: amount per craft", separated by commas.
The throughput of one belt of the tier you are using, taken from the game. Leave blank to skip the belt check.

How this is worked out

4 steps
  1. Crafts per minute per machine = 60 / 4 × 100% = 15.
  2. Output per machine = 1 per craft × 15 crafts/min = 15 items/min.
  3. Machines needed = 60 ÷ 15 = 4, so build 4.
  4. Iron Ore: 1 per craft × 15 crafts/min × 4 machines = 60 items/min.
Input rates requiredtable
Iron Ore: 60 items/min (60 for the exact target)

What the satisfactory calculator calculates

Works out how many machines a target output rate needs, what input rate that consumes, and how a belt divides across several outputs, from a recipe you enter from the game — the rate arithmetic behind any factory-building game planner.

How to use this satisfactory calculator

Enter What to work out, Target output rate, Items produced per craft and Seconds per craft. Output per machine updates as you type, and “Use a worked example” loads checked figures you can adjust. Change one figure at a time to see what drives the result.

How the result is worked out

Open “How this is worked out” beside the result for the step-by-step calculation behind Output per machine, Machines needed (exact) and Machines to build.

The method follows Rate balancing is elementary proportional reasoning: OpenStax, Elementary Algebra 2e, chapter 6 (ratios, rates and proportions).

Target 60/min from a 4-second recipe making one item example

With What to work out: production, Target output rate: 60, Items produced per craft: 1, Seconds per craft: 4, the calculator returns Crafts per minute per machine: 15, Output per machine: 15, Machines to build: 4. This example is checked against an independent source in the test suite.

What you can compare

Change one input at a time to see how it affects Output per machine, Machines needed (exact) and Machines to build. The inputs you can vary are What to work out, Target output rate, Items produced per craft, Seconds per craft, Machine speed and Ingredients per craft.
