How this is worked out

5 steps
  1. Start: 4x + 7 = 23
  2. Move every term to the left: (4x + 7) - (23) = 0, which collects to 4x - 16 = 0.
  3. Isolate x: 4x = 16.
  4. Divide both sides by 4: x = 16 / 4 = 4.
  5. Check: left side = 23, right side = 23.
