What the graduation year calculator calculates
Works out the high-school graduation year from the grade a student is in now, or from their date of birth and the state kindergarten entry cut-off (a child starts kindergarten in the autumn of the year they turn five on or before the cut-off, most commonly 1 September). School years are named by the year they end in, and the answer assumes the ordinary progression with no repeated or skipped grades.
