How this is worked out

5 steps
  1. 2026 elective deferral limit = 24500 + 0 catch-up at age 35 = 24500.
  2. Employee contribution = min(5% x 100000, 24500) = 5000, or 192.31 per pay period.
  3. TSP agency contribution = 1% automatic + first 3% matched in full + next 2% matched at 50% = 5000.
  4. Each year the balance rolls forward as balance x (1 + 7%) plus the year's contributions, for 30 years.
  5. Projected balance at 65 = 944607.86, of which 150000 is yours, 150000 is the employer's and 644607.86 is investment growth.
